Why it matters

One of the most useful features of Google Analytics is knowing which visitors behaved in a way that helps you achieve your business goals e.g. bought a product, made an enquiry, etc.

Has Google Search Console been set up for your site?

Why it matters

Google Search Console is a free tool that helps you to understand how your site is performing on Google and reveals any technical issues that may be preventing your site ranking prominently in the search results.

Have any deleted pages been correctly redirected?
Why it matters

At some point, you may have deleted some pages on your site that were no longer needed e.g. discontinued products, outdated information, etc. If any of those pages were receiving traffic from search engines, other websites or social media pages, visitors may now be seeing a “Page not found” error when visiting those pages.

How do I check this?

Check that any deleted pages are being correctly redirected to the closest equivalent live page on your site.

Have your blocked Google from indexing any pages that search visitors will not need to access?
Why it matters

Google will decide how many of your pages to index based on the number and quality of links pointing to your site from other sites. If you restrict Google to only indexing those pages that you want visitors to discover, you will have more chance that they will be visible in the search results.

Check that any pages that you do not need Google to index have been correctly blocked.

Why it matters

Broken links on your site will produce a “Page not found” error, which can affect usability and search rankings.

Why it matters

Why it matters
